1. Intro:
After the Razer Mamba which was very good we tried the Orochi Gaming Mouse with our laptop, because the Orochi uses Bluetooth.

2. Package content / look and feel:
When you buy this mouse you'll get:
- Razer Orochi
- USB cable
- two AA batteries
- manual
- Razer sticker
- small bag

The mouse is 3,5cm high, 7cm wide and 10cm long. Later you will see a comparison between the Mamba and the Orochi.

The Orochi has two buttons on the top, in the middle is the mouse wheel. On the right are again two buttons which can be freely assigned. The heart of the mouse is a Laser sensor with up to 4000dpi (wired mode).

The Orochi has a rubber surface for a better grip even in the hardest battles (the same surface as the Mamba). With the 4 teflon feets on the bottom the mouse operates very smoothly and quietly.

With the software you can easily program Macros and change the dpi-settings and you can even program every single button. Like all Razer products you won't get a driver cd/card with your product, you have to download it by yourself from the Razer homepage. And since there is noch Bluetooth adapter inside the package you'll need to buy one for yourself.

You can work with the Orochi wired or wireless. While the mouse is wired with your pc the battery will not be loaded but you can keep on working/playing.  Changing from wired to wireless mode and vice versa works without any problems.

We are testing with driver version 1.02 and firmware 1.04 under Windows 7 x64 with a Logilink Bluetooth dongle.

3. Precision / Surfaces:
We've tested the mouse on several surfaces: On a Steelseries I-1 (glas), a cheap mouse pad, on a desk and Jenas and on our hands: On all surfaces the mouse worked without any problems.

Working and playing with the Orochi is no problem and makes fun, but Razer can't beat the Bluetooth technology at all, so you can work flawlessly with the mouse but when you interrupt working/playing your pointer will hang for half a second when you play/work again. This is due to the Bluetooth technology and no problem of the Orochi.

If you plan to buy this mouse only for gaming, we would suggest looking for a USB mouse.

4. Battery lifetime:
You can place 2 AA batteries inside the Orochi mouse, we inserted two 2650mAh rechargeable batteries. With this batteries we could work about 3 1/2 weeks without recharging by working 4 to 6 hours daily.

You can get this long lifetime without recharging with the high capacity batteries and the reduction from 4000 to 2000dpi in wireless mode, which is done automatically. Using the normal batteries delivered by Razer you can expect a lifetime of 1 week until you have to change the battery.

One thing we dislike is that you can't load the batteries with the USB cable.

5. Other (positive + negative):
There are only three real negative aspects:

The fact that you can't load the batteries with the USB cable - this would be very helpful, especially for a notebook mouse.
And the second one is that the Orochi takes some ms until she is ready after standby. This isn't too bad if you are only working with it, but since Razer says it is a Gamer mouse, we must talk about it.
At last it would be better if there is a Bluetooth dongle in the package, but since they don't cost very much on ebay it's "okay".

6. Fazit:
Conclusion: recommendable!

With the Razer Orochi you'll get a great product which is just a little bit too expensive. Of course, 2000 / 4000dpi, Bluetooth and "gaming capabilities" are very rare in the notebook mouse category, but we wouldn't really suggest the mouse for professional / semi-professional gaming. Beside this you'll get a really great mouse with a nice bag which does perform very well. If you are interested you'll have to buy a Bluetooth dongle on your own.
