3. Quality / Problems:
First you'll see the non-perfect processing. There is a big chink between the display and the display frame in which you can easily put in your notes. But the keyboard and the chasis is well done and there is no need to complain about.

But the most negative point is the very reflective display. Not only that the back of the display is painted with a very reflective varnishing, the display itself can be used as a mirror when its off. When it's on you can work with it without any problems while there is no direct lighting onto it. Because of that and the resistive touch layer on the display, your neighbour sitting next to you can't really see enough, so you should look onto it directly from the front.

4. Mobility:
The running time with the battery without charging is said to 8h referring to Acer and we see this as a realistic aim. While we are installing the system, with WLAN and bluetooth on, Windows 7 says the battery can hold another 7 hours.
After 4 hours browsing, programing with Eclipse and preparing some Office sheets Windows 7 reports 50% remaining battery capacity, so it seems that Acer gives us realistic and real running times.

5. Performance:
When you boot up the system for the first time, you will recognize a very sluggish system. There are some AdWare programs, but this has been worse in the past. All our tests and video are made with a reinstalled Windows 7 x64 and a Mtron Mobi SSD.

If you want to fully control your notebook with the stylus/fingers you'll need some time to learn it. Your inputs are recognized quite fast, but sometimes some double-"clicks" aren't executed or the dot on the i isn't recognized. For this you have to put a little bit stronger onto the display and this will be done automatically after some time.

The fan is keeping very silent during normal office work and browsing. You'll hear the fan when you're watching 1080p mkv files or when you're installing programs, but the fan doesn't annoy you then, too. The temperatures are keeping low all the time (38°C idle, 45° load), but everything else would be very strange since there is a CULV CPU inside the book.

The speakers aren't as bad as expected, but it's far away from good. Even the Dolby Sound Room doesn't help anything - Dolby Headphone doesn't show any improvement with good headphones.

// Update:

You can even watch BluRays without any problems. Just take an external drive (i.e. Sony Optiarc BD-5730S) and PowerDVD 10 Ultra and enjoy your HD movies on the display or an external TV via the HDMI output.

6. Sonstiges / FAQ:
You can ask questions or comment on this test in this thread (without registration) - your questions will be answered here.

Regarding the relation between price and performance, there is no better convertible on the market. The cheaper Asus 101MT is much cheaper, but its based on Intel Atom. The best alternative would be the HP tm2 with a capacitive display, but it costs more, weighs much more and has a very special design.

We suggest to get the driver from the Acer 1825PT, especially the G-Sensor, because they are more actual. The driver for the Multitouch-Display are available via Windows Update, all others are available on the manufacturers homepage (links at the end).

EA's Fifa Manager 10 runs flawlessly but you can't control it with your pen or fingers, so you have to use your mouse or the touchpad. Fifa10 runs on the machine too, but you have to reduce the details and it stutters a little bit during the cutscenes.

*UPDATE*
After some weeks of real-life testing we can say that battery life and overall performane are very good. On a normal day with browsing, editing some PDF and/or writing some documents the battery keeps you powered for about 7-8h. If you want to game or play some HD files, the battery time is about 2-3h.
Compared to the Core 2 Duo T7100 (65nm, 2x1,8Ghz) the is no decrease on power. Touchsreeninput with the pen or finger is recognized by 99%, sometimes a letter or the space button gets lost. For writing some texts we suggest to use the handwriting recognition which is working very good even without training Windows 7 fully.
Trackmania Nations is running very smooth on this notebook but don't expect much more regarding games. Even Fifa10 is too much for  the Intel X4500MHD in1366x786 and middle details and low shaders. Playing 1080p or 720p content works without any problems and without getting the fan too loud so you can use this notebook in your living room with your family.
Playback a BluRay should be possible too with an external drive (i.e. Asus SBC-06D1S-U) and a software with hardware acceleration like PowerDVD, but we will test that later.
The only negative points are the glossy backside of the display and the display itself. For the first we suggest a good cleaning cloth and for the display a anti reflex film.
For further questions or wished for testing just comment in
this thread (you can post without registration at the moment).

8. Conclusion:
Conclusion: very recommendable!

Of course, this netvertible has some problems, i.e. the very reflecting display and the non-perfect build quality, but we've to say that the Acer 1820PT is maybe the best convertible notebook available on the market (in relation this price). Becasue of the resistive touchscreen, you can write directly on it. (Of course, this would be possible with capacitives display, too - but this would cost more). The performance is good enough for education and work, the SU7300 is a powerful processor. The fan keeps very silent most of the time, only while you're installing software or playing 1080p files, you'll hear the fan (but it's not getting on your nerves).
